Tosoh SMD, Inc. (“Tosoh” or “we”) considers the privacy of visitors to our website a priority and we strive to protect it against unauthorized disclosure or use. Please see below for our Privacy Statement.

Information We Collect

Our website allows you to submit requests for information on our products. This process involves your providing to us your personal information. By “personal information” we mean information such as your name, mailing address, email address and phone number.

We may also ask you to provide us with information on your interests, demographics, experience with our products and mailing preferences. This allows us to improve our communications and service to you.

Why We Collect Information

We collect your personal information in order to furnish you with information on our products and/or our newsletter.

Why We Disclose Information

We do not sell, rent or give your personal information to other marketers.

We sometimes disclose your personal information to companies within the Tosoh group. That allows us to provide you with better service. The Tosoh companies are bound to us to safeguard your personal information, and they have their own privacy safeguards in place.

From time to time it may be more convenient to use non-Tosoh companies to serve you. We may find it better, faster or more convenient to use outside companies to process information or deliver information to you. In that event we may need to disclose your personal information to these companies. As a condition for performing the work for us, we require these companies to safeguard your personal information.

We may be required by law or legal process to release your personal information. We also may elect to release your information if we determine that release is necessary due to national security or law enforcement concerns.

How We Protect Personal Information

We strive to protect your personal information against unauthorized disclosure or use. We do this through a variety of measures, technical, administrative and physical.

Our personnel with access to your personal information are required to observe confidentiality requirements regarding the information.

EU Residents

If you are an EU resident, you have additional rights under the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) with regard to your personal information which we collect.  Under GDPR, personal data refers to any information that relates to an identified or identifiable, living individual. This can include address, phone number, location, password and IP-address, i.e., the type of information we collect from you.  Other types of personal data such as health records, dependents, income, banking information and cultural preferences, we do not collect.

The GDPR is intended to give EU residents control over their personal data and therefore includes a number of obligations aimed at protecting individual's rights. The most important are:

  • Access: EU residents have the right to request information regarding their personal data, such as what data we collect, what we do with the data (or who is processing the data and why);
  • Correction: if an EU resident believes that his or her personal data is incorrect, incomplete or inaccurate, he or she has the right to have it corrected or completed;
  • Objection: an EU resident may object at any time to the processing of his or her personal data for a particular purpose;
  • The right to be forgotten: in certain circumstances, an EU resident can request the deletion of his or her personal data; and
  • Data portability: EU residents can ask for their personal data to be returned or transmitted to another organization.

If an EU resident wishes to exercise any of the GDPR rights, send an email to [email protected] attaching the GDPR - Subject Access Request Form, completed by you.

When you request it, we will provide you all relevant information about how your data is being processed, the identity and contact details of the controller and of our GDPR Privacy Manager, the purposes of the processing, the legal basis for the processing, the period for which the personal data will be stored and how to exercise your rights. We will provide such information contextually at the time to the collection of personal data or, where not possible, immediately afterwards and in any case no later than one month from collection.

We will erase EU residents’ personal data if the retention of that personal data is no longer necessary (i) for the purposes for which they were collected or otherwise processed, or (ii) to comply with legal obligations.

These technologies also allow us to better understand traffic patterns on our website, to customize your experience and provide you with more convenience each time you visit our website.

However, if you do not wish to receive cookies, you can set the security options in your web browser to disable them. Although you must understand that certain features of our website will become unavailable to you once you disable cookies.

Our website also collects certain information automatically and stores it in log files. Most other websites do this. The information collected includes internet protocol (“IP”) addresses, browser type, internet service provider (“ISP”), referring/exit pages, operating system, date/time stamp and clickstream data.

This information does not tell us who the individual visitors are and we do not use this information to market to visitors. This information allows us to analyze trends, administer our website, track visitors’ movements on our website and gather demographics about visitors.

We also may use pixel tags. Pixel tags would enable us to send email messages in a format visitors can read and tell us whether emails have been opened. Pixel tags also would tell us what parts of our website visitors have visited. They also would allow us to gauge the effectiveness of searches visitors perform on our website.
